Welcome to Traditional Choice
Traditional Choice…..where Science meets Nature and Nature complements Science
What Is Health?
World Health Organization (WHO at the 30th World Health Assembly in 1977), said; “Health is a complete active state of physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” From this perspective, the possibility opens for integration between current scientific approaches to health and the older traditional techniques. Having to practice the natural law of healing, it must be with goals and effects so to correct the person’s health imbalances and gain back its natural total ecological system and not simply get rid of a single cause or pathogen.

The Medical Herbalist – Medicinal Actions of Herbs
In decades, a great deal of pharmaceutical research has gone into analyzing the active constituents of herbs to find out how and why they work.
A much older and relevant approach is to categorize herbs by looking at their medicinal actions as to what kinds of problems can be treated with their help. In some cases the action is due to a specific chemical present in the herb and some of these are:
- Adaptogen ~ these herbs increase resistance and resilience to stress, enabling the body to avoid reaching collapse because it can adapt around the problem.
- Alterative ~ these are herbs that gradually restore proper functioning of the body, increasing health and vitality. Some alteratives support natural waste elimination via the kidneys, liver, lungs, or skin
Other medicinal actions of herbs are: Anti-Catarrhal, Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Microbial, Carminative, Demulcent, Diaphoretic, Diuretic, Emmenagogue, Expectorant, Hypotensive, Laxative ~ Laxatives stimulate bowel movements. Stimulating laxatives should not be used long term. Nervine tonics strengthen and restore the nervous system. Nervine relaxants ease anxiety and tension by soothing both body and mind. Nervine stimulants directly stimulate nerve activity.
